BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Aim

The project aims at determining the levels of the electromagnetic radiation at various points of the geographical areas of Thrace, Macedonia, Ionian Islands and Thessalia in the frequency range 20 to 3000MHz. Most sources of electromagnetic radiation (broadcasting, television, mobile telephony, public services, wireless LANs etc.) are included in this spectrum band.

Methodology

In these web pages, you can find information with regard to:

  • the release of guidelines for exposure to electromagnetic radiation (only in the Greek version of the site)

  • the legal frame which is in effect in Greece regulating the exposure to electromagnetic radiation

  • the equipment that was used and the procedures followed for the measurements

Results

The measurement results are presented in the next pages, in the form of bar graphs, while parallel are given the spectrums of the main sources of electromagnetic radiation. Despite the fact that these measurements give only a snapshot of the electromagnetic environment at each measurement spot, it was found that in all cases the levels of the electromagnetic radiation were many times lower than the corresponding limits which are established by the Greek legislation. As the project continues, the measurement points are going to form a denser grid. Besides, the variation of the levels of electromagnetic radiation with height from the ground is going to be examined (for example balkonies and flat roofs).
